I'm going to be there from July 2-7 (then Poland from July 7 - August 9 ). I've never been there before, so does anyone who has been there before have any recommendations for what to do? The Eiffel Tower is a given obviously.

Also, I need still to find a hotel to stay in. I don't need anything fancy, just something close by, not too shabby, and safe.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Just get a guide book from the library. I've been there a few times and I can assure you the people who write the guide books know more than me.

Oh, and stay out of the Bois de Bologne at night.

Picasso museum's fantastic. Skip the Pompadieu center. Go to Notre Dame Cathedral. Talk to random French people, I found them really friendly and helpful, but I don't have an American or British accent ;)

Obviously hit up the Louvre. I was there in 2003 and had an awesome time.
