I've noticed on more than a couple of older threads reviewing equipment that the images are removed by the thread starter for whatever reason (I understand completely the need to keep disk space and bandwidth available on your own site). That is disappointing as when people go back to those threads, especially when they are linked to in threads indexing reviews.

Could there be a way that once a review thread gets included in a index thread, those images could, with the permission of the OP, be hosted here so others can benefit from those images?

Hopefully this isn't too dumb of an idea.

Images are hosted here if they're linked as "attachments". However, that has a penalty on the physical size of the file (150Kb). This means that the images are subject to loss of quality through jpg compression.

Since a full quality jpg at 1024 pixels can be anything up to 600Kb, it's not economic for the forum owner to host that by himself, and it also puts a strain on the forum's bandwidth.

It's the nature of the game that people will delete or move old shots on their own hosting spaces, especially when they're old shots, and no one really wants to check each image for wether it's been linked to or not.

With the archive pages, it's usually best to look toward the end (most current). And then if you see something that interests you, you can always contact the poster for more information.

I think more has to do with the site hosting the images. I know I've deleted many photos from Imageshack not knowing where else they were deleted from. I forget.
