The weather has continued warm and large red damselflies are beginning to emerge and disperse. I caught this male well away from the pond of his birth. They feed up and mature for a couple of weeks before going back to the pond to fight for territory and the chance to mate.

And this female orange tip butterfly was nicely placed for a shot too.

Both shot using 70-210 F4 with Canon 500D close up lens attached. Not exactly MPE-65 but it's able to be hand held and gives about 1:1.5 which is fine for the above subjects. C&C appreciated.

Excellent shots Mike, glad you found a Large Red at last - they are still thin on the ground round here but seen a couple this week.

Superb colour and composition of the butterfly (and great detail too).

Lovely shots. Butterfly is super. Seen a male orange tip last week but it just would not land, never mind.

Apologies, I missed replying to your comments on this post, so belated thanks.
@Pete, catch OTs or other skittish butterflies early in the morning when they're not warmed up. They will bask first, feed next then fly and fly and fly.... The ones that are still left are getting a bit tatty around here now though.
