Canon's rebates take another victim....

So, it's Christmas time and who would think someone would be buying gifts for themselves, but now that my dad is now retired from the fire dept he has decided to start taking up photography again, (he used to be a photographer for the dept before becoming a regular fire fighter), so he called me up and asked me to look around for a 300D for him and a light went off in my head!!!

Hmmmmm, Triple rebate....... $300 off on rebel for him, $300 off on 70-200 for me, $300 off on 100-400 for me also.... needless to say, I just ordered a 70-200 2.8 IS and a 100-400... I was going to orignally order a 2x extender with the 70-200 but since with the rebates and with some very generous family members for X-Mas this year, I think I'm going to be happy with my current order and my dad will be happy with his camera too!!!

I think you're only getting a $150 rebate on each of the lenses, not $300 a piece.

Yeah, thats what I meant, $150 a piece....

Don't feel bad, Kenski - they got me as well. I'm starting to get a collection of Canon boxes with rectangular holes on various faces.

That may be more true than you want to believe.

I just hope you get your rebates. I've been waiting since May to get my $90 rebate for two lenses I purchased. It was accepted yet I've never received my rebate. Even after many e-mails and replies from the rebate center that the "check is in the mail" I've yet to receive my rebate. This is the first of many rebates that I've had a problem with. Hope they work out for you.

Hmmm, This is a first I have heard of someone having a problem with a canon rebate... Did you Pre-Register your rebates? Of about 7 people I know personally, 5 have received theirs already one of which for $600. The other two turned theirs in about 3 weeks ago.

I've not had any problems with previous rebates - I haven't used the pre-register feature. I just send in everything the ask for. They are a bit tricky though - you have to do things exactly as requested.

I pre-registered and was approved. Contacted them via email three times everytime they said the check would be sent out in 15 days. I'm still waiting. I've never had one problem with rebates until this. Believe me I know how to fill out rebate forms.

I'm not saying you don't know how to fill out the forms... I just haven't heard of anyone having problems with them yet...

I send mine in on 1 December and I am waiting for the status to show that they 'received' it via mail

Looks like a different fullfilment company. Canon must have canned the other one. Looks like I may be SOL!
