As i continue to make money off of low-light sporting events i continue to fight a battle between selling my 1D to get a 20D, keeping my 1D and dealing with the noise.

I'm starting to realize the only true solution here is to just buy a 1DMKII. I guess i knew it was only a matter of time.

I sure as heck dont have the cash, and wont for quiet some time. And really i promised myself i wouldnt sell another DSLR for as long as i'm doing this (or at least until it is collecting dust in my closet). Do you guys think the prices will dip anymore?

I am going to buy this one as well. The history taught me that price doesn't drop substantially just because of time factor; but it gets sledgehammered when a spectacularrrr new camera is released, also featuring somewhat modest price tag. So, I'll just wait until then, I suspect it will take less than a year. Also, I don't care if I have to wait that long, 10D still gets the job done.

5D and holy trinity of primes. Now the 90mm TS-E TS-E fly bit me. I hate these forums.

At B&H it's dropped all the way down to $ 4,499.00.

I read a post a few weeks ago that Dell had them discounted to under $4,000.00. You might want to do a search on the forum for the post. In my opinion, the 1DmkII is heads over the 10D for sports and low light photography. The upgrade from the 10D was well worth it for me.

$4,499.00 is what I paid for the 1D mkii from B&H from there very first shipment when it first hit the shelves in April of 2004.

The price has not gone down.

I do not expect it will go down soon either.
Deals like Dell are not indicative of the units "normal" price.. hell I have ten 100-400mm L IS zooms on order from Dell for $189.00 each ;)

There were some Canon refurbished 1D MK II at $3300 on the web, followed a thread on dpreview forum, they would be gone by now ...

Actually, they have the price down to $4099 right now. You have to put the camera into the shopping cart to view the actual price. But I've seen it even lower at other places, though.

The MKII dropped $400 here in Montreal. Bought mine 2 weeks ago but still got a wicked deal.

Apparently B&H has dropped the price but the actual cost has not dropped. I talked to a friend of mine that works in a shop after the B&H drop, he had given me a good price the week before and It thought that if the cost had dropped he could now do better, but he said that the actual cost had not moved at all. I believe him. Looks like B&H just decided to make the drop for Xmas or something, but doesnt look like they are getting any better pricing from Canon as of now.

Well, it will drop in some places... as soon as the 1D MK III is on the shelves...

(At least that was what happened to the 1D MK I)

Best regards,
Andy

Based on 1D prices, i'd guess it'll drop that much as soon as they stop making MKII's and come out with the next version.
