Correct gels on strobes for outdoor...

I'm having trouble balancing the right gels wit the sun? any suggestions so peoples skin tones don't come out to warm? I 've got the Rosco pak.

try and search. i saw a thread a while ago about this. there were pics and some instructions about using the rosco gels with the subject backlit by the sun.

Show us a pic. I use bare flash outside as sun and flash are both about 5500K. I only gel for tungsten.

There is really no reason to change the color of the light from your flash when outdoors, as the flash emulates sun light pretty closely.

If you need to tweak the overall color of an image, that's simple but by creating a mixed-light situation in the first place you are probably creating problems for yourself.

Hey, in this case, it's the same filter

That gel would be darn near perfectly transparent. When shooting outdoors with flash I use flash white balance. It works out wonderfully.
