This is weird but I would guess some of you have this camera. How good are its images? Like iso100-400 landscape, buildings etc? Also if they negatives are scanned with a good scanner how big are the images I have heard about 35 MB but I was wondering about actual pixel dimensions?? Anyway just curious.
Thanks.

The Mamiya 7 is nice. Go for the II.
Very good lenses. (The 43mm is supposedly as good as or better then the Hasselblad SWC)
Changing lenses takes some getting used to.

10 shots on an 120 film is not much though.

A good quality scanner (Nikon Coolscan 9000 (external link)) could pull off 4000 dpi. That would give a file of something like 9000 x 11000 pixels. Or almost 300 Mb (8bpc RGB).

Ok cool thanks a ton. All the people I work with went to photography school and are into heckling me about digital versus MF cameras. My coworker brought in his 6 by 7 Mamiya yesterday it was pretty nice.

So 4000 dpi once sized up would produce a large 300 DPI image!

Thanks for posting this, was curious as well.

Now for the less knowledgable amongst us (idiots like myself) how large of a 300dpi print would this be capable of creating (ie. what's the enlargement capability)?

9000 pixels at 300 dpi gives 30".

This looks like a nice camera that produces stunning results. The body/lens kit is running $2400 new at several retailers.

Gear: Kodak Brownie and homemade pin-hole cameras. Burlap sack for a bag.

If I had the funds, I would pick one up right now.

With a medium format negative, you can get great scans from a high-end flatbed scanner, such as the Epson V700/V750, should the Nikon 9000 be out of the price range.

About halfway down, this site has tables showing scan resolution/print size (300dpi) for various medium format negatives.

Yeah they look nice. There is one local being sold for 1600-1700 with lens. It would be down the road though money is not flowing as well as I would like!
