Anyone use this for off-camera stuff? I need another flash for skate photography. All my flash stuff is used off-camera. I've got a 285HV right now and an OLD Canon 166A (this would be replaced by the 622). The 622 seems to be the new version of the 544/555... Anyone use it and like it?

Lots of people use (and like) 622's and 120j's on and off camera. The 622 is a powerful unit with some interesting accessories if you can get your hands on em. I don't own one but I have used a friends, it compares favorably with my Metz units with one exception, the handle makes mounting it for use with an umbrella/softbox kind of a pain in the butt.

Nadtz - Just wondering if you have the 622 yet and do you like it or not. I a considering the 622 or a second 580 EX II.

I don't have one but I have used and use one. If you want TTL and system functionality with your camera get the 580, if you want a powerful flash to use off camera, get the sunpak or a similar metz. If you want 1 flash for both uses, well that makes your choice more obvious.

If it's anything like the 555 it's a great flash. Just not easy to mount on a bracket or stand w/umbrella. I use my 555 off camera with an optical trigger frequently and it works like a charm.
