Borrowed the 135mm 2.0 L off Pete here at POTN and tried it with a Canon 2.0x II Extender. Gives great results and AF remains lightening fast in AF - amazing speed.

Here is the 135mm 2.0 L with Canon 2.0x II TCon:

Superb detail and it looks like the only thing lost with the 2X is the DOF, never tried the 2X on that lens just the 1.4.:D

How close to subject was the last shot?

Just curious because I have this lens.

I think a bit over 1m and it was just an experiment. I could have got the shot without ... and as you see above I did ;-)a

It must be the compression, but the first one looks bad. The result with the 2.0x doesn't look too bad. I own this lens, and I'd love to try out an extender.

I agree ... I tried the new max size for posting 1024 but reduced the jpg quite a bit so it would load quickly. On my monitor the TIFF it looks pin sharp. I think I might stick to 800px.

Looking good. I use mine with a Kenko x1.4 & x2 TC's.

Did you take those wide open @ f/4?

Honestly, how can anyone tell if it's "soft" or "sharp" just by looking a 1024x768 image?

Looks like it works nicely with the TC. I'm going to have to experiment some with my 1.4 on the 135.

Thanks for sharing and your reply.
