I have my eyes on the 85 since i saw some great portrait-shots that came from this obviously gorgious L-glass chunk....

But what are your opinions on this.

I have the 1D mrkII and 16-35/2.8L, 24-70/2.8L, 70-200/2.8L IS, 135/2.0L and 50/1.4

And what would i have to pay for a mint version ?

Thanks
CeeCee

It's supposed to be an AWESOME portrait lens, but the autofocus is rather slow, so it's not good for any fast moving items (the 85F1.8 USM is much faster in that regard).

If you can afford it.........then get it!!!

It should be a sharp lens even wide open..........with some gorgeous "out of this world" bokeh......!!!

But as with the two Canon 85.........don't be suprised to see some purple fringe at wide apertures.

What is the DOF like on this at F1.2? I saw a shot one of someone, the foreground was all out of focus, as was the background, the subject was pin sharp though, the DOF must have been only a couple of inches, looked great!

I think Pekka has this lens, but I can't find the example image made with it ...
Anyway - here are (external link) the images made with this lens (from Pbase.com).

Best wishes,
Oleg.
