I have removed the photo as I have gotten so many ideas & examples.

Thanks you all so much.

Kath

I mistakenly had my SS on 1/25 instead of 1/125 for the first few pictures. The WB was on flash. ISO 400. f/4. FEC was at 0 I believe. Terrible lighting in the arena also.

This is the original, no PP.

I have PS Elements 6.

Can the color & bg of this be fixed somehow? Please tell me YES!!

Thank you, Kath

The only reason it couldn't be saved is if you don't think it's razor sharp enough. The above small version certainly looks ok.

Colour-wise, it's pretty good, as indoor shots go.

I can definately add som USM to this to sharpen it up. I haven't done enough indoor shots other than in a controlled studio setting with my strobes. I looked at this & to me the color looks awful. Thought that there might be a trick to fix the color issue.

Go into hue/saturation, and play with the saturation of each RGB channel.
I suspect you will see the best results clicking on the red channel, and pulling it back a little.

I don't now what software you have but here is an example from CS3 without spending a lot of time. I adjusted colors and cropped with a bit of sharpening.

Just did a quick try at the channels. That made a difference. I will have to work on that more tomorrow.

Thank you very much.

Any more suggestions.....I'm all ears.

Kath

Randy, when you say you adjusted colors, does that mean the RGB channels?

Thanks, Kath

It was not through RGB channels it was just going into Color Balance and changing by eye. RGB is probably pretty close to the same as color balance has the three primary colors.

Then just go in and change the RAW file to adjust the temperature to the desired look. This is usually done only when you open the file from RAW.

The color temperature is the top line as shown in this shot. At least with CS3 it is.

DOH!! The first couple times when I opened it in raw, I did adjust the temp. But I didn't go as low as 3400 until a minute ago!!

I didn't think that the WB would even be close to being that low. With flash I am usually around 5000 to 5900.

I should have just kept sliding that ol slider down.

You guys are great. :D I can now save my daughter-in-laws Grad photos!!

Thank you, Kath
