hi, tonight I was out taking pictures and I guess I snapped some famous people and their producers wanted all of the pictures I took and offered to pay me. So I told them take my card and call me tomorrow. What form of payment is easiest if they are long distance. I can always meet up for cash and exchange if its possible but if its not I want to know whats a normal way to get paid without them taking the goods and going without paying.

I do not know how I would react without actually being in your shoes but giving 'them' the memory card, never.

You have already given them what they want so all the 'power' of the sale is in their hands. If they are honest brokers you may simply be told thanks here is some cash but if not I hope at least you get the card back unsullied as they could simply say "sorry none of the images were good enough....." whilst having copied them as needed!

Hope it works out for you?

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

I'm pretty sure he gave them his "business card" not his actual CF card.

Ah!!!!!! that will show me to think more laterally next time but when the OP said "So I told them take my card" that did not make me think of offering a business card :o

Hey CMax.

First, I would slow down and find out WHY they want all of your images. On the surface this may seem reasonable to a noob, but in actuality it may not.

If those images are going to show them in an not so nice way, they of course do not want you to publish them. They probably thought that you were a papparazzi.

The first law of pro photographer is to NEVER give away all of your images, maintain the copyrights and only sellthe rights they want to purchase.

LMAO yeah I gave them a business card. I'm expecting they want the pictures to show their adventures around the states... A guy know said sell them all for a few hundred bucks which I'm going to do. Nothing papparazzish that would get them in trouble. But I was wondering how I should get payment. Is it standard for them to write a check or something? Just wondering because I dont want to mail them a CD or upload the pictures for them and never get a payment. They can always say well the check got lost in the mail or something.

If they're legit, I'd probably want a check, and payment would have to be made first. Then they'd get copies of the images.

Did they specifically say they wanted all the rights and everything, or just copies?

OK this is what I was sent just now. "I went to your site and saw about 2 or 3 pics that I would like. What are your prices like? Do u do photoshoots, too? What are those prices like?" I have like 20 pictures but he wants the 2 or 3.
