The Crumpler web site sucks and none of the local stores in my area carry their stuff. Can anyone tell me what bag I'll need to hold My XSi body, a Canon 18-55mm IS lens, a Canon 55-250mm IS lens, and a Sigma 30mm lens? The 30mm Sigma will be attached to the body 95% of the time.

I'd prefer something wide, rather than deep, although if the price difference is huge I'll take whatever I can get. Thanks.

Wide and deep? 6mdh sounds like what you're looking for. 5mdh would work too, but is not as wide or deep.

Sorry, may have not used the correct terms for dimensions... When I was out shopping this weekend I saw that most bags were basically square when viewed from the top, sometimes sticking 8 inches out from your body when put over a shoulder. What I wanted was something more like a messenger bag where it only sticks out from your body 4 or 5 inches but may be 10in wide. As to bag depth, the largest lens I plan to carry is the 55-250 IS which is only about 4.5".

Does that clarification change the recommendations? I'm not tied to Crumpler, I just requested info on that brand because it seems like a lot of people here use them. All the local stores had were Lowepro and, considering that they feel a lot like my lunch bag, seem overpriced...

EDIT: Are Crumpler bags covered under a MAP agreement? Everyone seems to be selling them at the exact same price as the Crumpler web site. Anyone know where I could get a discount?

I am interested in the discount question as well. I am looking at a 6MDH.

I have my XSi with a 24-105mm attached and a 10-22mm and a 50mm in the 6MDH bag as well. There is still room to fit a flash and maybe even another prime lens. The 6MDH is a great bag.

Go for the 6MDH. You will *always* find more stuff to, err, stuff in your bag... Blowers, batteries, CF cards, etc.

I fit plenty in my 5MDH and having a thristy al or two keeps the bag small but adds a lot of room.

I think that you will be dissappointed if you get the 5MDH. You really need the 6MDH.

Really? Quite a few people here say that you can fit three lenses in the 5MDH as long as they're not huge. Did you have the 5MDH and then find it was too small for the body and 3 lenses? I don't plan to buy a flash and my 4 SD cards fit in a soft-shell case about 1.5" x 1.5" x 0.5" that I can toss anywhere.

EDIT: If the Sigma 18-125 HSM OS turns out to not be a piece of crap I'm going to get that, rather than the 55-250 (I really don't need the length), and then I'd only carry the 30mm and the 18-125mm. What bag would work well for those two?

I have a 5MDH. It will hold my XTi with 17-55 attached + hood, 70-300/DO + hood, and 100/2.0. Facing down, the 70-300/DO takes up about 1/3 of the space and the XTi/17-55 the other 2/3 thirds. The 100/2 is stored at one end of the bag, under the "grip" side of the XTi.

I'll probably replace the 70-300/DO with the 55-250/4.5-5.6, so will have more room.

Too much stuff, not enough shooting time.

The 6mdh is sized more like a normal messenger bag if that's what you're looking for. The 5mdh is noticably smaller, but either will fit what you have in mind.

I actually ended up with a brand new Domke F-5XB (Olive). I believe it's a bit smaller but it was free because Dell has screwed up so many of my business orders lately (including the one for my camera). If I don't like it I'll sell it and buy something else.

Cool, hopefully it works out well for you. Domke makes good stuff.
