I also have a Lumiquest Pocket Bouncer that I attached to my 430ex with some velcro. works great when the ceilings are non-existant, too high, or some gawd-awful color.

i've been really thinking about a picking up this kit... you have any samples pictures using the pocket bouncer

I don't see how it does anything to soften the light..that is why Joe Demb made a diffuser for his flipit..to diffuse the reflected light that is reflected forward..an opaque material light lighsphere or something put over the flash is a diffuser or let the ceiling do it..a card on the back end just reflects.

'it'...is a reference to which product in whose message?!

A lot of discussion about diffusing light. I guess it depends on your definition but the way i see it any time light from the source strikes an object, whether it bounces off or travels through, it gets diffused... as long as the object it is striking is not refocusing the light, like a fresnel lens or similar. Reflected light off a surface has been diffused to some degree. Now a mirror might not diffuse much, but even mirrors are not perfect reflections argueably.

I use a Sto-Fen diffuser on my 430EX. Its great when bouncing the flash off a ceiling. Without it the bounced flash can cause some unflattering shadows under people's eyes. The diffuser spreads the light up and forward.

For sports I take off the diffuser.

I have to get me one of these as well. I was in a bar that had a dark wooden ceiling the other week. It was a PITA getting the custom white balance just right. A pocket bouncer would have been perfect.

very inexpensive... check BHPHOTO and also get some velcro to attach it to the flash.
