That makes you the second person around here that I have seen getting the lenses first and then a camera. Just remember, you can take pictures with a camera and no lens, but if you have a lens and no camera you are out of luck.

Funny, I figured if I get the lens then I'm kinda forced to get a camera body sometime. If I get the body first, I might not be able to get the expensive lens. Makes sense to me ...:)

Anyway, the wife and I talked a bit more and now I get to buy both lens. One of the other posts got me thinking ... is the 17-55 better than the 28-70?

Another thing, I have not even bought the lens/es yet and I'm feeling like I'm having buyers remorse. Just seems like a really big purchase. OK it is a big purchase.

So I think I'm needing some convincing that I do need the lens. And now that I have it (options) which ones if not the two I suggested? I'll take any suggestions you guys have. Thanks!

I actually just figured out my way around convincing the boss to buy a camera and some lenses: I waited until he was on leave. That means that I am the boss right now, and so there is a new XTI and a few lenses on the way :)

The 24-70 great great lens to strat with more versatility initially and then move on to the 70-2200.

Easier to get permission to spend $1k then to spend $1.7K.

Get the 70-200 f/2.8IS now and if you can, the 24-70, 17-55, or 24-105 later.
