Has someone made a direct comparison between this lens and Samyang/Rokinon 14mm f/2.8?
I am using crop and need something wider then my 28mm.

WOW.

Phenomenal. Could you describe the process you used for that? Long exposure? Equatorial mount?

Thanks!

Really not as complicated as all that. Tripod - 25 seconds - f2.8 - ISO 6400. I basically tried to let as much light in as possible in 25 seconds. I think any longer and you would get star trails (or need an equatorial mount). I used manual focus just a hair short of infinity. My brother in law in the boat light a cigar in the middle of the 25 seconds, which is why it looks like his head is on fire.

Really helped being in a remote area of NW Ontario. No light pollution at all.

Just got back from San Diego and managed to take a few shots with my 11-16 while I was out there.

What do you think?

This one was 3 images stitched together, which is a real pia with a UWA but I wanted to get the whole ship in the picture from this angle. I haven't messed with the color temp on this one.

A fabulous set of images from a fabulous lens. The 1st image has to be the choice for me, that is an awesome image.

All of these are awesome. The DOF is so huge in this one. Where was the focal point?

It was set at infinity, which is where this lens stays 90% of the time for me. If your at F8-F11 it does have a very wide DOF, and so sharp.

Really considering this lens, but I'm afraid that it might just end up being one that is only used once in awhile. The only focal distances I have are 35mm and 85mm on a crop, but I'm loving the pictures produced from this and I want something that is wider for indoor shots and then outdoor landscapes. Would this be the perfect lens for me?

I think you answered your own question. ;)

I love my Tokina UWA lens, makes me think a little more when composing and shooting.

Just

a shot from vacation. I didn't have my remote shutter release, so 30 sec was the max I would go.
