First time using this fella. Using a UWA is more difficult than I thought, I found very few situations with enough foreground and bg interest on a hike today. This is one of them.

^^I'm totally digging that shot. You really get an idea for the warmth and the feel of the room. Very nice work.

Thanks very much. And that room felt like that, and was really nice to kick back in (as much as you could with 3 kids under 6 running around)

nice & cozy Kevin,

i can imagine it with someone setting on the left chair, or maybe standing looking outside the windows.

i think you can edit the photo in photo shop. fix the slope and remove the upper part (my eyes initially tricked me into thinking that was a black frame! i think i need glasses).

great one indeed.

regards,

yeah, kinda lazy on post work. That beam was a pain. Cropping it out will kind of give an indoor pano feel to it? Interesting. Thanks:)

Is it hard to get a normal looking wide angle shots with this lens? I'm thinking of renting this lens for a large group shots (15+ people), but i worry about the tilting and fattening of the subject. I've seen a few normal looking ones, but most posted pics here are either tilting or just just weird looking. Should I be renting a normal zoom then like the 16-35 L if i want the normal look? Thanks.

? what...the one posted right above your post was taken while I was almost touching the sign. The one above that is a normal room. The ones above that all seem ok. UWA are all gonna tilt some if you have straight lines....no other lens will 'fix' that. If your a few feet away from your group and you don't have lots of tall angles you'll be fine.

I would never use an ultra-wide lens to take photos of people. Something in the 50mm range is going to be best, and you'll have to back way up to get everyone in the frame. With that said, you should be able to use this lens at 16mm and not have it distort too much. A 16-35 is not going to distort at all on a crop-sensor body.

So at its highest focal length, 16mm, I won't get distortion or at least minimal distortion? Thanks for your time.

At 16mm it's not going to distort as much, but there still may be some distortion.

of course it depends on what you're aiming to achieve. ;)
