Hi, I have been granted accrediation for the Blue Square Play Off Final this sunday at Wembley.

Going by the email header 19 photographers have been given accreditation but only 10 will be granted pitchside access and the 10 wont be decided until the day.

Can anyone clarify what this means please? If I am not pitchside where would I be?

Bit concerned about travelling up there and not getting access on the day.

Thanks.

From looking at that only 10 will be by the pitch, like just off the sidelines, possibly behind the advert boards. The other 9/10 who have not been decided do not have an allocation as to where they will be placed just yet.

Thanks, This is taken directly from the email:

"As photographer’s you will be handed a bib at the accreditation desk, which you will be required to wear throughout the duration of the day. Of the accredited photographer’s only 10 will be permitted pitchside access, to be decided by the Football Conference Office. Confirmation of this will not be provided until the day."

Take your entire gear with you. You may see the need for a long lens.

Thats the wierdest thing I have seen.. Everyone must have pitchside access surely.. your not allowed to photograph from anywhere else.

Take a long lens.. I did wembley twice last season and where a 300 is just about ok for the game its far too short for the presentations. MAYBE they mean only 10 will be allowed on the pitch at the end of the game.. It was a farce last year to be honest :(

Photographers had to stay at the opposite side of the pitch to the presentations and they where done up in the stands.. I put a 1.4 TC onto the 300 and still couldnt reach..
even 420mm wasnt long enough..

Maybe they have learnt and made some changes

This explains a lot:

"My mistake in the communication, it should have read pitch access not pitchside access! All photographers will of course have pitchside access with only 10 being permitted pitch access at the appropriate times of presentations etc."

Thanks for the help all, Roll on sunday!

Not too bad, The roof was partially closed so didnt let a lot of light in and it got quite cloudy towards the end so had to shoot at a higher ISO than I would of liked, Borrowed a 1.4x converter for the day and it seemed to throw the auto focus off a bit, Either that or my lens is on the way out... Summing up, Well a fantastic experience but the results could of been better, I'll post some later ;)
