I posted this at dpreview.com but alas I got no responces. I am glad I found this forum and I am a Canon XSi user.
As you might have guessed I'm a total newbie at this and at this stage, I'm just looking to get some decent quality photos from my camera. I would appreciate any help I can get.
The issue is I just picked a few prints up from my local Costco where I placed the order last night. Before I sent my prints, I used the info at: http://www.drycreekphoto.com …sing_printer_profiles.htm
to read the advise on printing from my local lab such as Costco. I followed the advise from that website and printed 5 4x6 prints.
I also downloaded the printer profile for my specific Costco center from this same website. This was a tremendous resource.
Now, when I picked these prints up today (this was primarily a test print) I noticed that colors match what I see on my monitor which is great considering I have an old 17" Sony LCD TFT SDM-HS73 monitor which is not calibrated. However, the left sides of the horizontal prints and the top sides of the vertical prints are trimmed and there's some narrow white borders left over after printing. I turned the auto correct feature off on Costco's website before sending my files.
Is this normal? Did I miss anything? I should mention that I set the right image size (1200x1800) and the right canvas size (1228x1842) according to drycreekphoto.com. I did these in Photoshop CS3. The resizing of the image was not recommended by drycreek. I should also mention that my local Costco uses Noritsu 3411 printer.
Here are a couple of images in question. None of these prints were cropped before sending in for printing. Only the capitol of Texas photo was straightened. Sorry, I was trying to find a way to embed the images here to make it easier for you, but I don't know how to do that.

And please, tell me there is a better way to batch print and soft proof in Photoshop CS3. I also have Lightroom and would like to utilize it for printing because it's much more intuitive. Or is there a better way?
I guess I should tell you straight out that I'm confused.
Thanks!
