look forward to the new thread an some pics ???

You must of taken 1 or 2 .......

Yeah, 1 or 2 THOUSAND!!!!!

I'll start a new thread as soon as I get caught up at work, and can do a little sorting and PP'ing.

Let me just say though, it was everything I had hoped and probably the most enjoyable trip I've ever been on. I would go back in a heartbeat.

On a funny side note, I am work right now and playing on the easy listening radio station we have on, they are playing Toto's "Africa" right now. Too coincidental. :)

We spent 5 nights at Breezes Beach resort and Spa in Zanzibar, I highly recommend it, very nice, clean, great food.

I know it well but not stayed there we stay next door so to speak we put it on the end of our 2005 S. Africa trip and 2007 E. Africa trip.

Think we'll be changing for 2009 as the beach is now getting built up with the new Italian Hotel at the end and at the other side of The Palms is another new place opening all 3 - Breeezes \ The Palms \ and the new one will be owned by the same person but obviously all aimed at diiferent markets.

Still a lovely get away and a nice spot in the world.

The Palms is the only place in the world we have been twice..... Service, food, everything is excellent.

The Breezes is really nice, but quite expensive. If you want to save a little money, but be at a nice place as well, try Ras Nungwe near the northern tip of the island. They have a full dive/snorkling center on-site and was the best snorkling that I have ever done in my life.

Looking forward to seeing the serengeti pictures when you post them.

Sounds a good option. What would you pay per night there approx. and do they charge per person or per room? How is transport to and fro?

Jaybird if its the Northern tip isnt that a long drive from the airport?

Think we'll need a new sub section in the pictures section just for Africa :)

This is their website http://www.rasnungwi.com/ (external link)

You can contact them from the website for rates. The beach isn't the greatest for swimming as you can only do so at high tide, but at low tide you can walk about the tide pools. I can guarantee that you will see clownfish hosting in the tide pools.

It isn't all that far, maybe a thirty minute drive. They will send a taxi down for you. The place is managed by a guy from Malindi.

Yeah, breezes was about an hour from the airport. The beach there wasn't any good for swimming as it is only a foot deep when the tide goes out. But it was cool to walk around with the low tide and find small fish, crabs, sea cukes, etc.

The actual beach was beautiful though.

Who was driving, Grandma?

Ooops, I was just told by the "boss" that it took about 60-90 minutes to get to Ras from Stone Town. Guess I don't know how to tell time. It was still a great place.
