How many of you use the 10-22 in the 16-22 range as walkaround?

As the thread title says, how many of you own a 10-22 and use it as a walk-around lens in the 16-22 range often?

What I'm getting at is: I've had my heart set on a 10-22 for a while now, but now with the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, I'm considering getting the Tokina instead.

I'm a fan of wide angle, but I'm afraid the 11-16 range might be too wide for most normal uses. I'm not one to change lens often. The 10-22 has a decent zoom range and at 22mm on a crop, that's only mildly WA, so I can use it for crazy WA or fairly normal shots. But I don't want to buy the 10-22 and just realize that I never bother shooting longer than 16mm anyways.

Also, how well does the 10-22 perform indoors? It has no IS or wide aperture, but maybe the short focal range lets it get by with longer shutter speeds. What are your guys' thoughts on this?

Tell me what you guys use your 10-22 most often for (outdoors and landscape obviously, but what about people, indoors, other creative uses) and in what focal range.

portraits...nah. Wide angle+portrait=distortion. Indoor...meh...if you can swing it. If i were you, i would get one, try one out and see where you like it best, and if it doesn't suit your needs return it and get the other.

Na, just kidding, you are still a loser.
^^ If you higlight this you will be cool ^^

Ive had my 10-22 for a while now and it's main function for me is landscapes for sure. It's also fun to get creative and play with the distortion a bit, but i've noticed that for people I will usually switch out to another lens to be safe.

I find it a little slow for indoor shots, but take that with a grain of salt since i'm just beginning to learn how to use a flash properly.

It is a great lens for what it does, but I would say it's really designed for one thing... UWA outdoors.

Although I love this lens it doesn't serve me as a walk around type. The 17-40 does that.

I am a motorsports kind of guy and I use all of my 10-22s focal range. It is nice in the garage or the pit. I don't usually take shots of people but I think it could be used carefully for that.

acquired a 10-22 for my wide angle stuff, tried some indoors, then a little as walk around, it was good at wide scenery, but was too slow for my liking at the long end as a walk around, and indoors i didnt like it at all was way too slow and it seemed that the corners were too dark so they were noisy at high iso.

conclusion, i dont shoot scenery often engouh to justify the 10-22 and i coudlnt use it for anything else i shoot, so i got rid of it. what was left to be desired was a f2.8 with the same range. without going 5d and 17-40 or 16-35 there was pretty much no option. untill now this tokina might be that lens, except it only goes to 16mm which is pretty wide fo ra walkaround. i do very much prefer the 20mm focal length and i think that is the lens that is on my 400d most of the time, so i dont know how the 16mm would be.

my .02 cents for what its worth

I don't think I can live without the 16-22 range. It'll be very limiting if I couldn't use the long end of this lens.
