So you're using us for the dirty work? Obviously the eyes don't look sharp and the lighting is so flat that the nose disappears into the cheek. Great teeth though, she should be a dental model for those posters where they advertise zoom whitening.

Pretty good if she's a shoulder model. :) I mean the focus not the model, she's a keeper.

;) that's the idea, I'm no pro.. not yet at least, but there are some problems i see straight away from the image, and the problems are

1.) either comments that I've received from my own posts
2.) from reading other people's comments.

Also - next time do not wear a knit top - the moire patterns created by it, especially in image 2, are really distracting (e.g., the left shoulder seam and left breast area). I know this is a function of image size, but if the image is going to be used at various sizes, then avoid this ahead of time by wearing something with less periodic texture.

Nice model, not nice lighting. I don;t mean to get too personal, but does the model have an unusually big nose? Maybe the photographer was trying to de-emphasize it? Otherwise, more definition across the face, as stated above by others.

To me the two biggest issues I'm seeing is that the focus is a bit soft and the models position in the shot is weird...I'd have rather seen her in the left side of the shot instead...to me it looks like she's moving out of the frame. Her complexion looks a little washed out to me too...It think it could use a little more saturation and/or contrast, but that's just my personal taste...to me the shot should be more "vivid".

It's an ok shot, but honestly I think it could be a lot better.

Also since you asked specifically ("Comment on her age in this picture"), I'd guess late 30's/early 40's. If I had to be more precise, I'd say 41.

Peace,
Jim

thanx all for your critiques,

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one that picked out all the problems that were posted here.

I wanted to tell her all those things that you guys posted, but I didn't had the heart too, poor girl, she got her head-shots done for her Comp card.

oh, and she's 20 this year

Is that the full crop? I don't like how you either loose part of her head, or it touches the edge. Is that the standard for a head shot?

Always happy to hear some critique

I like the framing better on the second one, but the focus still looks soft. To me the lighting looks even flatter than in the first as well. You said she's only 20? Without seeing her either in other shots or in real life, I'd have to say these pictures don't do her justice either....but that's kind of a subjective call.

I wanted to tell her all those things that you guys posted, but I didn't had the heart too, poor girl

This is just very strictly my opinion, but when someone asks me something of this nature (either on the net or in real life), I'm honest with them. Especially in a situation such as this, I think it's doing a friend a dis-service to "coddle them", especially if you have the experience to see there's something wrong.

One of the reason's I post my pictures on forums such as POTN here because I want "brutally honest feedback" because I don't know any one in real life that's experienced enough to know the difference between a good shot and a bad one. If I wanted hand holding, a pat on the back and my ego stroked, I have plenty of people to do that (as do most of us). But if I had a friend who knew photography as well, if not better than I did, I would be rather upset if they saw a problem and didn't say something. A simple fact of life; we learn from our mistakes. But we can't learn from them if we don't know what they are. Next time be blunt...tell your friend what you think. If she's really a true friend, she'll not only respect you for it, she'll be grateful. And if she's not adult enough to realize that you're trying to help, then maybe she's not such a good friend after all.

Just my $.02 worth,
Jim

I think her face is overexposed, especially in the second one. Also in this one, the light seems to be coming from below.
