Hey guys, I've posted this before but I'm sure it got overlooked. I'm getting very close to getting a 5D...All I need to do is sell some gear to fund it...

What I really need to know is payment methods...When I put my gear up for sale, I'm probably going to only accept paypal payments. The thing is, how would I receive a payment through paypal? Is the transaction done through my email with paypal using a credit/debit card? And what's this I hear about a 4% fee? I haven't came across it yet when reading the paypal website...Their information is so abstract in areas at times. I just want to know what to ask for when accepting payments.

As you can see I'm a complete noob at selling gear online as I've never done it before and I want the transaction to be as smooth and quick as possible so we'll be happy on both ends. Oh yea and when I transfer the money to my bank account will there be any fees involved?

And as for shipping I'm assuming it comes out of my own pocket unless I request a payment for that as well..

Anyways, I really appreciate the help guys!

It's all really negotiable. Paypal seems to be the norm, and probably one of the safest. Money orders also work, with USPS money orders the most fraud free. And there's always a plain old check ( just wait till it clears). Paypal acts much like a bank transfer, with Paypal being the intermediary. Fee's and shipping can be a separately negotiated price, but a lot of times it's just rolled in to the overall cost of the transaction.

Hey thanks for the info! I'll probably just sit tight with paypal for the time being.

there is also google checkout, works the same way as paypal only there is a 2% fee instead of 3% with paypal. Many people have moralistic problems with paypal but they are still the biggest show in town so most still use it, myself included.

I used paypal, and I feel pretty dumb, it's extremely easy to use. I was just being a little too paranoid...
