#3 and #4 remind of cave paintings.

#4 is pretty interesting in that sense to me

Hey I like them all for really different reasons.
1) Great colors and textures. I would like a wider view but that might kill the composition.
2) Very nice angle and framing. I don't know if the depth of field is the best though.
3) I did not like this at first but #4 helped me understand what you were doing with it and I think it's very nice. I think more of a blur such as #4 would improve #3.
4) Good work with this. It looks like a watercolor or cave painting (as mentioned). You could try more contrast if you want to play with it.

Are you on flickr (or other site)? You really should get these up somewhere with quality photo hosting. Photobucket seems to show images in lower resolution and when you're taking great shots like these, I want them to look crisp! Also, I would add you as a contact if you were on flickr!

#2 should all be in focus in my opinion. Looks like only the dog's ears are in focus. Would prob even be better if the ears were out of focus but the dog's view was in focus . . . but, I like the idea.

#3 doesn't quite work for me but i like the concept. should be either more blurred so that it starts to looks more abstract like #4 or you should use panning to the rider/horse are in focus. as it is, it kinda looks like you fell down as you took the shot.

#4 = very cool. I think the very basic colors help this one alot.

Just for inspiration Ernst Haas actually preferred to shoot on overcast days most of the time and heres some of his work. Check the motion stuff. Its pretty cool and I kind of go a feel that your motion stuff is a bit in Haas's direction. Thought you might like to see how someone else handled it.

I really like #1. The only thing I think I'd change there is to me the color looks a little off...just a little too red for my tastes. Usually those old metal chairs are kind of a dull brown color and the rust certainly should be. I think having the reds over-saturated here takes away from the "aged feel" of the shot.

I like #2 as well, but my comment there is simply to straighten that horizon...it's tilted counter-clockwise.

I'm not crazy about #3. I think it would have been better if the horse and rider were in focus against the blurred background.

Ditto with #4...I'm sure you were trying to go for an "artsy" feel to the shot but to me it just looks like horrendous camera shake as though you killed a 2 liter of Mountain Dew before shooting. Nothing personal, but I usually don't wait to see shots like that on the computer...I usually delete them right on the camera.

I have nothing against artistic experimentation, but those last 2 shots really don't do anything for me.

Okies...just my $.02 worth!
Peace,
Jim

no 1 really works.

2. Personally would prefer the scenery in focus.

3 & 4 hurts my Brain.

thanks for all the feedback!

Aaagogo- that is exactly what i was going for with #4! yay! :D

Transfer- i'm kind of new to digital photography, i didn't know that diffrent hosting sites had diffrent quality. is flickr the best, or which one is your favorite? ... on #1 i couldnt get anymore of the chair in the photo without entirely changing it, but i liked the way it came out. i posted #2 because i was really unsure about the DOF on it, and i needed another pair of eyes to look at it, and i appreciate the feedback. on #3 i was trying to convey the motion of her horse running up that hill, and i think your absolutley right, a little bit more blur would have helped that out tremendously. i'm glad you liked #4! it's my favorite shot from that day

Flo- i knew you would like the first one as i was posting it

RAPhotography- i was a little concerned with the DOF on #2, and i appreciate the feedback! (btw, those are horse ears lol). i appreciate the advice on #3, i dont have a whole load of experience shooting "action shots" and as previously mentioned, a little more blur would have gone a long way with this one. i'm happy you liked #4!

airfrogusmc- WOW! i appreciate the links! cool stuff!

Walczak Photo- i swear i didn't saturate #1!! all i did was a 20% sharpen and posted it up here! actually the intense redness was what caught my attention. i didn't even see the tilt on #2, and now thats alll i see haha! i appreciate that, i'll straighten it ASAP. on #3 and #4 i wasn't going for anything "artsy" just thought it looked cool and told a bit more of a story, but it's not for everybody

Chappie- i'm glad you liked the fist one! nopbody likes the DOF on #2!! haha lesson learned. the last 2 are a little weird, but i like them that way

LOL, but agreed. I don't really see a point to having them. As for your "told a bit more of a story" explanation, I guess its one of those "had to be there" moments ???

Oh, I like #1...

What are you talking about? its sunny almost every day here (except last night and right now).

I personally prefer cloudy days = free light diffusion & no high-contrast sunlighting.

It's gonna be #1 for me, that is all.

not trying to be a dick here, but when somebody says something something has 'no point', it typically means they just don't get it, and that is not my fault.

Nw85887- i love high contrast sun light!!! lol, but wow i can't believe yall are getting sun in the 210... thats just 3 hours from me, and i had 2 tornadoes touch down less than a mile away from my house today. send some sun up north!

You suck.

LOL, not really, but somebody had to say it.

Anyway, I like #2, but would prefer a more narrow vertical cropping... just below the bottom of the ears and just above the tops of the trees.

I don't want this to hijack your thread, but because I was curious too, here is a comparison of photobucket and flickr:

Photobucket top, Flickr bottom. Definite clarity and contrast differences, but maybe I'm just an IQ snob. :surprised:
