Which (28/2.8 & 35/2) has better sharpness in the area covered by 5D's AF points?

Dear ALL,
i took most if not all of my family photos at a distance of not more than 2m and i'm typically shooting at about 0.5m to 1.5m or so.

my own experience with 3 units of 35/2 was that it's not really sharp even at f2.8 so that's why i intend to save some money this time by getting a 28/2.8 if Phxtxzxne is accurate in their MTF findings between these 2 lenses. Corner softness and slight vignetting in fact works better for my type of photos.

Angle of view is quite close between these two lenses on my 5D so i'm not too concern with this factor. i think 35/2 will throw the background out of focus more readily than the 28/2.8 but i'm quite ok with the bokeh of a 28mm at f2.8 (based on memory of a zoom that i used to owned).

Any one used both to lend me some of your user experience? Thanks in advance.

Why not consider the 28 1.8?

i've tried that before. It's really, for me, a USM f2.8 lens with f1.8 for my infrequent low light needs. That's why i thought of getting a cheaper option that could be used at f2.8 straight.

24/2.8

I think its sharp on full frame. Vignets noticably though.

35mm f/2 is pretty sharp all around with some falloff in sharpness. Very nice lens for the money.
