Hi People,
I am new to this forum as of a few minutes ago but over the last few months have been following some threads.
Up untill today the only flash I have ver used was my onboard pop-up flash that came with my 40D.
For that reason I had always avoided using flash if I could with my current camera and others over the years. Well... after following several forums and viewing hundreds of YouTubes Videos on the subject. My interest in flash photography has really taken on a new lease of life!.
So, today finaly, after alot of umming and arring, I went to My favorite camera shop in Japan where I live and lashed out on two 580 EXII strobes and the Canon ST-E2 Transmitter. It was Exy, but the moment i tried out i was 100% satisfied.
I rushed home, reading the manual on the train, Barged into my house and asked my wife to Jump in the middle of our bed. No major prep and zero planning for a few trial shots. LOL. As it was her day off she was wearing her pyjamas and looked like the "Wreck of the Hespriss" and of course was not too pleased about my request. Nevertheless after a few "pretty pleases'" she agreed.
Basicaly the few shots I took were all ETTL with the two strobe units set as slaves. One at her side bounced of a silver light disc and the other stobe positioned behind her to light her hair and siloute. I postioned a bedside lamp to work as a very very basic fill.
Anyway, I think the results speak for themselves in regard to how using multible strobes off-camera is going to transform your photogrpahy. These shots were taken withing 5 minutes of out of the box and zero serious planning.
So now the pics. Firstly the before pic taken with my onboard pop-up flash, and then the after pics with multiple strobes.
Anyone who may be considering such an upgrade to multiple strobes in my opinion will never regret their decision.
I look foward to planning some detailed shots and learning the entire capabilities of my new treasures.
Happy Shooting,
NicholasBB
