And that is a sweet pic BTW!

Thanks!

And thanks for the WB adjustment! I'm partial to yellow Mustangs... so not surprised I had a bit too much! LOL!

Going back to the subject of AF points, I use the centre one just about all the time for street, candids, close-ups, and most general stuff. But I'd switch to using all AF points with AI Servo to get shots of flying birds. Much easier to track and focus on them.

I very rarely shoot landscapes but I probably ought to select AF points and use evaluative metering, but I don't usually bother; I just use the centre AF point and partial metering, and lock and recompose if necessary.

Hi Garry

Yes, thats very useful because it sounds like you shoot in a similar way to me by mostly using centre af point and I occasionally lock and recompose with my 350D.

I am definitely going to try all af points and A1 servo for in-flight shots - I do a lot of dragonfly in-flights and when I get the chance, I like to try and get bird in-flights, especially Lapwings when I can get to where they are. With my 350D last year I did A1 servo but centre point which was ok but still slightly disappointing and had a couple of keepers, but from what I have read, with the 40D it seems I am likely to have more keepers :D (if I work hard enough lol).

Clocks ticking and should arrive here at work today :D :D

Linda

UPDATE: ITS ARRIVED! am at work so cant play or charge battery, but am reading the book when I can :-)

Thanks Garry - yes I am certain I will.

Charged battery when I got in, and after dinner set it all up, put my 70-200 F4L on and went out in the garden just as it was getting dark and just about managed 3 shots before shutter speed was just far too low with on-board flash and hand holding.

Even so, with a normally unacceptable shot, I did a 100% crop of the flower head I focussed on and all things considered its pretty good going for very dim light and pop up. You can see the blurring on the outer flower edge, but I would never have achieved anything like this with my 350D.
