I might take the plunge on a 5D when the US rebates hit, but I'm a little worried about the eye-point compared to the XXD cameras. Do any of you glasses wearers find a difference between the XXDs and 5D in terms of ability to see the full viewfinder, or is an eyepiece extender required? I think I'll go buy Best Buy tonight and see if I can play with a 5D (only place in town that I know of that actually displays a 5D), but any input/experiences would be appreciated.

Ive gone from a 400D to a 5D recently and wear glasses. The small view finder on a 400D was viewable but not really comfortable especially in low light. I had to really squint.

The viewfinder on the 5D however is stunning. Clear, big and viewable even in really dark conditions.

As a glasses wearer, this was another useful thing about the 5D which is made me happy about my purchase.

I have a 400D, a 40D and an EOS 30. I use glasses too.

I can use the 400D, but the 40D is significantly better. The 30 (for film, thus equivalent to the 5D in format size) has a significantly larger viewfinder, and works well for glasses also.

Thanks for the responses. I went by BB last night and handled the 5D + 24-105 for awhile, and you guys are right, the 5D is really comfortable to look through (a little better than my 30D I'd say). I think it will be a good match for my shooting style, so now I just need to decide whether to keep my 30D and 17-55 or not.

If you can swing it financially, keeping the 30D isn't a terrible idea for times when you might want a little more "reach" out of your lenses. Its hard to justify keeping a $1k lens that you can only use on one camera though.

Yeah, I'm actually thinking about selling the 17-55 and getting a 16-35L, which I think I would find useful on both bodies. I also like using the 135L on the 30D, and I'm pretty sure I'd miss that reach with the 5D.
