Great shot, excellent detail, POV and dept of feild, but the crop is kind of tight IMO. Not much room for play if your going to print.

I'd like to ask the driver if he has enough weight transfer when he launchs.

Yup, just cropped for sharing.......fullsize definately has enough room to print. :)

I'd say so.........1.2 second short times and some high 8's......on the old setup. :D

Nice shot.

Curious as to where you were shooting from and what zoom you were using. I just got back from a track and had no where near that nice a vantage point. Also, what time of day was this taken?

I'd have to go back and look at the EXIF data, unless someone has it with their browser and doesn't mind posting up.

I was standing right against the wall.......if memory serves me correct, about 350' down the track (just past the 330' marker). I am pretty sure that was taken around the worst possibly time of day for direct sunlight.....between 12-2pm. :)

What track did you just go to? I just got back from Bristol for the NHRA O'Reilly Nationals, took about 1400 pics from the top row at the 1/8th mile marker. I'll be posting those up here this week. :D

I'll be looking for your Bristol pics to see how you did. I watched some of it on TV tonight. I try to make Houston Raceway Park ever year for the nationals and missed it this year due to work. This is one of my favorites from last year. Had my printer with me and printed out a 13x19 and got Ron Capps and Tony Petrogon to autograph it.

Today I went to Memphis Motorsports Park. There was no event, just some guys practicing and tuning their engines. I just got my 40D Friday so these were my first "test shots" as well as my first attempt at photographing drag racing. Will go back later in the summer for some good races.

Know what you mean about the 12-2pm sun. Not good for shooting. Good thing is there was nobody there so I could walk around and test areas. I really like the pov you have on the Mustang. Will try that distance next time.

I wanted to do two things today. Catch the tires buckling at takeoff and panning (also a first). These are my best attempts. 1/60 was too slow for panning but the photo shows motion and is ok. Next time will speed it up to focus the car and blur the background.

This was learning. They should get better.
