i took the camera apart, fixed the neck strap bracket (and i will be re-soldering a wire soon... something a monkey can do)

and while doing this the camera never sprouted a mouth told me what kinda glue it uses. (and is why im asking)

most camera repair just takes a little bit of common sense and a little guidance here and there from people that have done it before.

Yes contact glue will be stronger than what canon use but not THAT strong :)
The stuff used on formica is industrial strength and pressed together.Over the counter types should be fine.
