I have 3 AB 800 & understand how they work with skyports.
I have used 1 580EXII on camera & one off camera in ETT-L & understand that.

Now I want to have 2 580EXII off camera triggered by skyports & I 'm not sure about that one.

First I want to make sure that I have the right parts for this. I want to use 2 flashes, both on stands, triggered by the skyport.

I have 2-580EXII
Elinchrom skyports. 1 tranceiver & 2 receivers
I have the umbrella brackets with the hot shoes.
I am waiting for 2 screwlock to skyport cables from flash zebra (out of stock)

OK I think that is what I need.

Now I need to know how to set the flash's up for using skyports. Do I just set each flash to manual mode & adjust the ratio for each & the skyports trigger them to go off at the same time when I press the shutter? (this is where i got lost) I don't need to set one to master & one to slave, correct? Or not.

I'm sorry if these are dumb questions but I am trying to learn
I think I've almost got it but..... :D
Oh, I have read so many post my head is spinning.

Thanks in advance for your help
Kath

I use the cords that were supplied with my AB800s to attach to my 58EX IIs with my Skyports. Here's the cord I'm talking about.

You can set up a master/slave if you want. No need, though. Set your Speedlites to manual and adjust accordingly.

The cords from the AB's are basically the same thing but with a non screwlock connector & longer cord, correct?

Sunnybeach, I have the exact setup, including the Alien Bees. No need to set the 580's up as master/slave. Just set both 580's to manual and adjust as necessary for the exposure you're trying to get.

Thank you. I thought I had it right but wanted to make sure.

The suggestion from members to buy 1 light and/or system & learn it first and then add to it as you learn is a GOOD suggestion.

I bought everything at once & it was hard to try to learn it all at once. especially since each one is different.

Yeah, same thing except for the PC male connector. That screw lock thing is very nice because it wo't come out of the 580 unless you want it out.

That is a nice feature. I haven't gotten any yet, but plan on it. You can always use what you have until the screw-locks come in.
