Yes, but I empty it before I pick up another.

I was thinking of a G9, that weighs in at 11.3 oz. :p

Ahhh, good point. And here I was thinking of a beer. Hey, it's Friday. :p

I'll bet if you weigh it, it's close to double that - even without batteries, blower, manuals, etc. :)

nope. I just weighed those exact contents and its 9lbs. manuals???? i don't need no stinkin manuals. If I take out the hoods and polarizers, i may even get that down to 8 ;)

Depends on which bag I've got. With my 7 million dollar home I tend not to carry as much, but when I've got my nature trekker I'll load it to the brim and put all the straps on..the weight evens out really nicely.

Won't that depend what you are intending to shoot? When I shoot birds, I don't bring my 24-70L or my tripod or the 50mm 1.4. My birding gears are as followed--1dmarkII, 400L F5.6, 430ex flash, and a monopod.

If you have to carry your photographic gear with you all day, every day, for many many weeks. You will be doing a great many things, but photography is definitely one of them.

What would be your weight limit for the all your photographic gear?

When I go on extended camping trips, I'll take everything I own in the slingshot 300 which weighs about 20 pounds fully loaded and then I use my top-loader case for specific outings where I'll just carry the body and one or two lens and my tripod, (when needed for bracketed and ND filter shots), in its own shoulder harnessed case, and keep the remains at base-camp, locked in the trunk of the car.

I like to travel light when I'm in the woods. ;)

Cheers! :)

THINK that is about it. That is bearable but does get weighty after a while.

I just weighed my bag as I normally carry it minus a few batteries and it's just over 20lbs. If I'm traveling or away for a couple of days I might also throw in my laptop. I can go all day with it.

We should all go with Mike- he can lug the gear :-)

How do you go with stablization Mike- do you use a tripod, or would it be easier to use a monopod in a wheelchair?

My backpack fully loaded with attached tripod is about 24lbs. After a full day walking around in a forest with rough terrain you start to feel the weight, but I can do the same trip several days in a row without problems.

I've gotten used to carrying around about 16 pounds of gear:

Domke F802
5D with 24~105L and 17~40L
40D with 70~200 2.8IS or 100~400 IS
550EX Speedlight

But if I can get by with just one camera/lens/flash, I pack the 5D with 24~105L and the Speedlight in my compact ThinkTank Urban Disguise 20.

If you guys remember the days of middleschool/highschool lugging around 40-50lb's worth of textbooks in your backpack the camera gear will seem light as a feather!
