hi all - first post on this forum so nice to be here!

hoping you might be able to shed some light for me. I have a 1dmk2n which i have had for about 7 months. shortly after purchase (it was a refurb) it started to have some problems. On starting up it would be stuck in auto exposure lock, could not access the display or menu intermittently and when it could the display zoom function was all over the shop. i sent it to an authorised canon center here in the uk. they checked it out and could find nothing wrong - camera worked fine! they kept it for a couple of weeks and checked it from time to time to see if it reappeared but all was good so back it came.

since then it has worked fine for around 2500 shots. now the same problem has reappeared. I have changed lens, removed time/date battery and main battery and left it overnight. Im assuming to send it back to the service center again but starting to get annoted as was planning on hitting the road for a few weeks of shooting next week and have a 10d as back up and not going to get the quality of shot that i am after. (dont get me wrong something better than nothing)

can anyone offer me any advice or ideas to to try before reluctantly sending it away?

kind regards and thanks in advance

tobes

Hey Tobes - intermittent faults are the hardest to find. Are you using a genuine canon battery? If not, replace it with one (they ain't cheap).

If it still mucks up, send it back in for repairs.

Have you got the latest Firmware on it?
I don't have the link to hand, but it shouldn't be hard to google.

Also I've been having issues with my mkiiN for a couple of weeks with it refusing to recognise certain CF cards (nowt wrong with the cards) and last weekend it just 'fixed' it self and has been fine since!
