I took these earlier in the week to test out my new 16-35 lens. I was pretty happy with them considering it was really my first time attempting landscape shots. The location is Brighton Jetty in South Australia.

I'd love to hear any constructive criticism....

G-day Jason. They're nice shots. I like the second pic most though. The colours are fantastic and the pic is nicely composed. The long exposure worked well on making the water smooth.

Mick.

I agree with HB, nice shots and my favorite is the second one as well. It gives a nice sense of the whole area you were shooting. well done.

#2 here as well. The rocks look as if they've just swum ashore.

I'm curious about the squiggly specular highlights in the street light (pier light?) reflections. What causes those when the bulk of the reflection is such a nice soft blur?

I'm guessing that its because thats where the water meets the beach. So you'd have water trickling back to sea in that spot and I'm thinking that because its moving faster and differently to the bulk of the water, the light reflects thru it differently (not sure I explained that the best but its late and I'm sleepy).

Mick.

Thanks for the comments. The funny highlights are pretty much as Mick explained. They go a bit funny in the area where the water is washing onto shore and then draining back into the sea. Because the water is only over the area sometimes a large part of the reflection is comming from the wet sand which is an uneven surface thus giving the uneven reflection.

Very nice! I like the third one here quite a bit, very calming.
