Buttercups

Stopped on my way home from work to take a few shots of a field full of buttercups and have tried something different to my usual pp. I always find it difficult to judge my own work as I end up picking it to bits and think everything is rubbish... so I'd love some feedback please.

They are pretty much blown by the harsh sunlight....you could try some contrast?

That was deliberate!

That was what I meant by trying something different with the pp, I was trying (and obviously failing!) to create a softer more romantic feel to them

Oh.....it feels harsh to me though Would this work? I know what you were after...instead of over exposing, just try to blur the surroundings and add contrast perhaps?

Thanks, I like that and it draws your attention to the flower but not really what I had in mind

This is the original with my usual processing ie. a bit of cropping and tweaks to the curves and saturation... what I was trying for was that kind of retro feel to it, any ideas where I'm going wrong?

hmmm... 84 views and only one person commenting isn't a good sign!

I know they're not going to win any awards but if they're that bad, help a beginner out and tell me why... is it the composition, the processing, the subject itself?

I am just glad to see real buttercups and not daffodils....everyone where I live call daffodils buttercups.

I like the original best the PP work needs some color cast for a more retro look like a cyan or red cast( most older photos can have that due to a bad bleach fix process, it being to airated or to weak).
