It was mentioned somewhere else here, but this guy's tutorial is fantastic for making all-white BG portraits, and he has some good explanations about less than white BG too.

May 16, 2008 11:22 | #4 I've got to figure out if I can make my speedlights function well enough for the BG lights, and then I already have the main with my D4s. Just need a few bi-fold doors and some white tile paneling and the seamless roll. HAWK Photography Gallery

May 16, 2008 14:09 | #10 Dblneg- I've got 2 550ex units, so it's just a matter of getting them to cover the BG equally. I'm thinking string and arc trick from a center point. HAWK Photography Gallery

I'm thinking string and arch trick from a center point. That should do very well. As long as you have relatively even coverage, that's the hard part - to prevent hot spots and give you an even background. La Vida Leica!

May 16, 2008 15:30 | #15 Try using umbrellas to even out the light from the 550s. This should do the trick. Once you've done this try and group them so they are 1 stop brighter in ratio. Some call me the Heilan' Laddie, but others call me Rob.
