Taken in April at Quivira NWR. Female Belted Kingfisher, who was not hunting, even though it was Wild Turkey season.

40D, 100-400 L, at 400mm, ISO 800, f/5.6, shutter as indicated. C&C welcome.

Thank you. Normally I try to keep signs and such out of the shots, but this one just fit nicely. I was also surprised how long she sat there. I have followed the call of these birds up and down the riverbank, only to have them fly off soon after spotting them.
