This is interesting .
''Entire Canon CAMERAS are counterfeited also. You can visit the Tradekey website (the counterfeit internet capital of the world) and see numerous counterfeit Canon items being sold such as: EOS Mark III SLR cameras & kits and SD30 Powershots. They come with Canon boxes, software, booklets....anything you would normally get with a Canon camera. Ebay sellers buy from sources such as this and then turn around and sell them here on Ebay. Here are a couple of fake Canon cameras being sold right now out of China from a seller who only accepts Western Union (another red flag of a fake item.

Thanks for the info Littlefield, I was not aware of that!

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

Somebody should tell wikipedia (external link) about tradekey.com being "the counterfeit internet capital of the world", if indeed that is so. The ebay article stating that "Remember, these are ALL counterfeit at this site" is unsubstantiated. The data about counterfeit batteries mentioned is present (external link) on the Canon website sure enough; search for "counterfeit" on the Canon site and you'll find 97 hits and they all seem to relate to batteries. If anyone can find anything on the Canon site suggesting there are counterfeit cameras out there, please post a link.

I've never seen a counterfeit camera, nor ever heard a reliable report of one. The only "evidence" seems to be one ebay user claiming that all products on a trade website are counterfeit.

The production of a counterfeit camera that would pass even superficial functional inspection would require virtually the same infrastructure as to make the genuine article. It would be more profitable and less risky (and legal!) for the putative counterfeiters to produce their own low-cost legitimate camera brand.

I'm very far from convinced that such counterfeit cameras or lenses exist.

So maybe they won the fight.

Or - maybe Canon are the biggest counterfeiters of all - not a single body they produce is a genuine Nikon! ;)

you can't shoot three frames a second if your shutter speed is half a second. its just not physically possible.

and if your lens can't find contrast, your camera will "twitch" your flash to try to help the AF.

You'll get scammed if your not careful, it's best going with Canadian or US authorized resellers otherwise you could get warranty issues.
