You can patent things that do not work or have no commercial value. Having a patent by itself does not mean much.

Right, and if it was Canons' idea you'd be saying how great it is.

I love how easy the Nikon bashing flows around here.

Just out of curiousity, how do you know what I would be saying if that was Canon’s idea?
Did I make any particular refference to either Nikon or Canon in my post?

You didn't have to. The dismissive response said enough.

Wow, I am impressed!

Since I do not share your ability to draw conclusions based on nothing but the pure presumptions, I’ll stick to the facts: The way they were written, I find both of your posts to be rude and arrogant.
They were aimed to the person and not to the subject of discussion.
You go to my Ignore list.

At least on the G9 it's programmable! Come on Canon! Get your act together.

Also hermeto wasn't Nikon-bashing, the man knows his stuff. I would've said the same thing, and I own two Nikon cameras.

Agreed. Shooting with 2 eyes open is something I quite often do - especially with sports.

Not really. It's an interesting idea but one that I wouldn't really need, especially if it adds £££ to the price.

The nikon bashing is only fun. I was actually looking at their range of lenses last night thinking that canon are lacking in some areas where nikon shines.
