Taking the 20D Plunge . . .

Well with the 20D fever going on around here . . . how was I to not catch it too? I picked up my standard lens 20D kit today. I shot a few things on the way home, well about a 120 of them. I am moving from a Pro1 and enjoyed the single lens zoom, small package combo . . . so I will keep it handy as well.

It has been a decade or better since I had and used a SLR. I just got burned out on film. Digital has given me my legs back and a desire to do and be what I thought I could do with film. I have shot more film with my G2/G5/Pro1 cameras than I ever did with film. I am a better photographer for the practice, I can be MUCH better however . . . that is why I am here.

I am looking for help with lenses for my 20D, and would like to buy with an eye to the future . . . I will have a full frame digital in a few years, much like the rest of you. Your thoughts on glass for my new DSLR?

I will try to read the book tonight and over the next few days, There are many things to get used to and a lot of fun to be had. I am glad to see the site back up and running again . . . I missed it.

I'm in pretty much the same boat as you. I just got my 20D a couple of weeks ago ... stepping up from a sony f717.

In addition to the 18-55mm kit lens, the very first lens I picked up (before the camera even got here actually) was a 50mm 1.8. It was cheap, and takes really nice sharp pictures:

Yes, I did too!
I got the accesory package with mine which includes the battery grip, camera case and extra battery. I chose Canon's 18-55mm lens that came with the package.
Unforfortunately the lens will not be in for a couple of days.

In my first set of shots I found several specks of dust on the sensor . . . so I took in a few sample shots on a CF card and was delighted to let them replace the unit. I hope this one to be dust free. This might be a much bigger issue than I or many people had thought? My dust showed up from shot one . . . but it causes some concern thinking of lens changes in the field. Any thoughts on keeping dust out of the body? I know to change the lense with the body pointed down and everything clean and etc.

Anyone else have a dirty sensor?
