Help with speedlite 430ex

My Canon Speedlite 430ex yesterday showed on the LCD screen "ETTL M ZOOM 14 MM" I thought that the minimum zoom for this flash was 28mm. Also it did not allow me to change the zoom or set it to automatic. Is this a defect in the flash or am I doing something wrong?

Sounds like you have the wide-angle adapter pulled out.

Hey, I've learned my lesson! The DAY after that incident I went and bought a big set of rechargeable energizers just for the flash...

Yes it did I believe that I did not put it back completely after I used it. So I am good now thanks again.
