Lexar Image Rescue software

I have a Lexar 40x CF card, and I was under the impression that it came with their image rescue software. Now of course I did something stupid, I deleted about 40 raw files off my laptop thinking I had transfered them to my desktop, and deleted my cf card. Needless to say I feel extremely stupid, but I need to recover those images if I can, fortunately none of them were business related. I thought that Image Rescue 1.0 was included with the card, but I can't findthe software anywhere in my house, and all I can find on the lexar website is the 2.0 version for sale.

Am I dillusional and mistaken? If not can someone point me to an archival ftp wheI re I can download 1.0? If it comes down to it can plunk down the $30 for the 2.0 version but I'd rather not pay for software I thought came included and I don't even know if it will work.

I've sent several emails to Lexar all of which have gone unanswered.

They could still be in your recycle bin and if so easily recovered.

Stuff from the CF cards don't do into a recycle bin, unfortunately.

I have a nasty habit of deleting my recycling bin before I shutdown the laptop. Unfortunately the software recovered almost every image *except* the one I wanted, but it's still nice to have. If anyone still needs it PM me, I have plenty of bandwidth and I'll make it available.

Does it only work with Lexar cards?

I just had a Pand S friend call me... She lost all the images on her near new card... Of course they are important!

Yes, she blew the rescue program off the card without saving a copy... I'll be glad to attempt a recovery for her... I've saved multi-session CD's that have developed a do-funny for her before and I hope I can help her again... Is this program downloadable somewhere?

One thing about the software. If you find that you need to restore the card, take it out of the camera immediatly and do not shoot anything else on that card. Even after formatting, the images can be recovered, but if you have taken photos after formatting, the new photos will override the old, preventing the overwritten image to be lost.

I have done testing on this and have been suprized in both good and bad ways. My first test was when I forgot which card I was using in my 1DMkII (CF or SD) and deleted the wrong card, losing over 100 images of the soccer game I was shooting. Granted, I recognized what I did as soon as I confirmed the formating of the wrong card. I took that card out and put my spare in. I recovered all the images - luckily. I then did an experiment. I shot 5 images, then formatted the card and shot 5 more (different subjects) and then tried to restore the card - no go. I only got the 2nd set of images.

Test the software first before relying on it. Will save loads of headache.

The great thing about this software is that it's cheap, easy and works with any card and card reader. They have versions for both Windows and Mac.

Yeah I ran all three modes, it recovered a lot of images, but not the one I wanted. I wasn't holding my breath, since I had shot other images on the formatted card before I realized I had deleted them off my laptop. I'll chalk this up into the lesson learned the hard way catagory.

As I said above, I will gladly make available the software (I have a ton of bandwidth so no need to waste Matt's). However I do not in any way support software piracy, so I will only make it available to those like me, who didn't realize it was on their Lexar CF card and deleted it. For those without Lexar cards, the software is very nice, and cheap $30ish.

Thanks Matt but when the card showed up it wasn't a Lexar... I'll decline your offer... She doesn't own a Lexar, I don't own a Lexar. I know that "sharing" is common but this isn't a Lexar so it never had a license for that program and neither of us own a Lexar product. I'm not Mr. Morals but we don't own a license for that program.

I will recover her images or return the card to the manufacturer in warranty and ask them to recover them...
