ok I know this has been covered numerous times but my AF assist is not working in any of the creative zones... and no the camera is not in AI servo. Ive tried it in one shot, and Ive tried in it AI focus neither work.

I also checked my custom functions and it is set to enabled, then tested with the flash enabled option as well and AF assist still does not work. Then I messed with the focus points, and only selected the center point, still doesnt work, put it back to all focus points enabled and still does not work.

I put the camera in automatic and it works.... WTF

Anybody have this same problem? Right now Im wishing it was just the simple AI servo problem

AF is working? (so it's not like you've set CFn 4 without remembering)
On the 20D the same: AF and AF assist work in "auto" modes, but only One shot AF works in "creative" modes?

Did you set CFn 8 in the flash (AF assist fireing)?

(For some reason Canon seems to have completely thrown the order of the 580EXs Custom Functions when adding the "II" to the name. This used to be CFn 12)

you nailed it! I didnt even to bother checking the speedlite's custom functions. Custom fn 8 on the speedlite was disabled. THANKS
