XTi + Tammy 17-50mm f2.8, 85mm f1.8 & Nifty-fifty 430EX and a bobble-headed tripod that suffers from repeated verbal abuse This is scary.... item for item just what I have, except for the 85mm. Even the tripod that just can't keep it up... (was bought for a video camera anyway). Ex-Canon shooter. Now Sony Nex.

Read up on how ETTL works and you'll understand why FEC needs to be changed depending on the subject you're shooting.
