Multiple Exposure Basketball Poster

What are your thoughts regarding this Multiple Exposure Poster?

photo good, poster bad :P

the multiple exposure looks too weird in the context, and the design work is subpar

Well, I guess I need to try harder... Any suggestions?

What I'd suggest is go into photoshop, open up the image, make an elliptical selection around the subject, select the inverse, feather it a BUNCH, I'd say 50-75px or so. Then, tone down the saturation in that area. It'll get rid of the potential distraction created by the colorful background. For the text, I would choose something a bit more busy and not nearly as plain as just the simple solid color background. Play around with it, use different shapes, etc. I already know what I would do... if you would like you can PM me a copy of the image and I can give you my take on it
