I have using the scandisk ultra for quite some time. I understand there are much faster cards at reasonable pricing. Does anuone have some suggestion?

I use SanDisk Extreme III, 2G cards in my 40D and they are indeed fast. But that speed is really seen when I plug into the 'puter for download.

SanDisk also released newer Ultra II cards that are faster than the previous Ultra II's. I just picked up a 4GB. So you might want to check that out.

The ultra IIs are just fine with the 40D. Are you not hitting the factory specs of 6.5 fps with those cards?

Also, this post belongs in the accessories area, and probably will be moved shortly.

Card speed is irrelevant to frame rate attainable. It does, however, have a strong influence on how long you can maintain that rate and how soon you can resume that rate after your buffer fills. A current Extreme III 4 GB is about 12% faster than a 2 GB Ultra II at writing RAW files, even though small cards are generally faster than larger ones.

One quesiton. Will ULTRA II 4GB handle longest possible 6.5 fps burst with no problems on 40D or do I need extreme for that? I don't worry about camera --> computer transfer, just buffer --> CF.
