I'm planning to get an 8GB SDHC card for my a570, but before I do, I just want to make sure that it will support that format and size.

Also, would the camera be compatible with future SDHC cards in even larger sizes...looking in the areas of 16GB and 32GB?

I had no trouble with an 8G card in my A570is. Pick a fast one - I found that a 2G Sandisk Ultra II card is significantly faster in my twin A570is stereo rig than the cheapo 8G card I originally got, so I ended up getting a 2nd 2G Ultra II card to run CHDK on the pair. I can still slap the 8G card in if I ever need it as backup....

That's good to hear. I'm thinking of picking up an OCZ 4Gg/8Gg...they are rated at class 6. They are cheaper than the Sandisk Ultras, and if their RAM is any indication, their SDHC cards should be pretty good.

I like the convenience of just have one card for all my photos for any given trip, and then backing them up to my PC when necessary.

My experience has been that RAM quality and flash memory quality aren't all that closely tied. I've had more trouble with Kingston flash than any other brand, and Crucial's cards were ridiculously under-performing. And both those are stellar RAM vendors. If you're going to put all your eggs in one basket, make sure it's as good a one as you can get.

FYI, my "cheapo" SD card was a Transcend 8G card rated as class 6 also. The Ultra II card ran circles around it. But it does hold 8G and was significantly less expensive than the same size Ultra II or better.
