Evening folks,

I am after a new bag for travel. I would like it to hold the 1D, 17-40, 24-105, 70-200 and maybe the 580II.

I already have a Lowepro Nova 5 but its quite chunky and square around the edges. The Pretty Boys look more rounded and therefore more comfortable to carry around all day. They also dont scream "camera bag". I'm off to Amsterdam in June.

My question is whether the XXL will be big enough or do I need the XXXL? I dont need it to hold anything else just the camera and the lenses above.

Thanks for any help

Neil

I've just bought the XXXL and it's a bit smaller than I thought, and certainly smaller than Crumpler say (never 2 bodies and 4-6 lenses).

I want mine to hold my gripped 400D, Sigma 24-70 and 100-400L. This it does take but it's maybe not as snug as I'd like. With the 24-70 fitted and with the hood fitted normally my 400D sit's above the bag. Reverse the hood and it sits pretty snuggly in there.

I'd say apart from the 100-400L I've got room to carry my Sig 530 flash too. Another lenses would be quite a squeeze.

I think you might have trouble with your 1D.

Regards, Simon

Thanks Simon.

I bought a Company Embarrassment last night on here so hopefully it will do the job. Only reason I bought it was it was relatively cheap. It may be a bit bigger than I wanted but should be ok.

Da_Nige - I was just about to say not to go for the Pretty Boy XXL or XXXL for your gear but I see you had already bought a Company Embarrassment. I have a PB XXXL and struggled to put my 40D, Sigma 70-300, Tamron 70-300, 430EX and another flash. Much as I love the bag, like Simon says, its certainly smaller than what it is advertised.

Cool thanks, ths is the problem with Crumpler. Their bags look good but there seem to be endless problems. The whole 6MDH/7MDH badging problems in the US, the crap websites, the poor description of what will fit etc etc.

Hopefully the Company Embarrassment will do the job and if not I'll look for something else not crumpler. I really hope it is what I need as I want a Crumpler.

Well the Company Embarrassment got here today and I love it. It is huge but small. It holds a LOT of kit but isn't all that big. I have always been a Lowepro man but this is something else. Really pleased with it and the best £22 I have spent in a while. It now joins my Dakine Sequence, Lowepro Photo Trekker AW II, Lowepro Nova 5 and Lowepro Mini Trekker. Me and camera bags is like women and shoes, its scary.

Riyazi I see your Pretty Boy is for sale, I hope you sell it and get a Company Embarrassment

Wow Neil - you got a Company Embarrassment for £22 ???? Thats a great price for it I think

I cant find one anywhere in the UK. :( Well keep looking though. I am quite happy with the LW SS 200 but am concerned that it might not be able to handle the weight in the long run.

Yeah I got really lucky, blu82 is selling off a whole load of kit in the Classifieds and he had 3 bags, 2 crumplers and a lowepro priced £10, £12 and £15. I asked what the larger Crumper was and he said Company embarrassment so I took it on a whim. Added £7 for p&p and we have one happy camper.

I know I'm a little late, but does anyone know where I can get an XXL in the US? I can't seem to find them. I can find the $5 and $6 million dollar homes, as they call them in the States, but the Pretty Boy looks like a better bag. I can't seem to find one online in the UK either. Anyone know of a site their?

The Pretty Boy is a european Crumpler bag, so is not sold in the States.

Also, in the UK, the Pretty Boy has been replaced by the Muffin Top bag (I just got one a few days ago: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=622813 ) so you can't buy the Pretty Boy from Crumpler new anymore, although some stores should have stock - check ebay as well.

The Muffin Top are basically the same, so the largest Muffin Top (7500) is basically the same size as the old Pretty Boy XXXL.

Turns out a gripped 7D + 622 + 580exII + 70-200 2.8 IS MK2 is BLOODY HEAVY! Who knew?!!
