Hello all......I am hoping someone here can relate and possibly steer me into the correct direction.

I recently purchased a PNY OPTIMA Pro UDMA CF card.....(266x, 2GB). It was purchased brand new from Staples, about a week ago. I can view the pics no problem through my view finder on the 30D, but once I put the card in my cardreader on my desktop.....I get the error message below.

FWIW, I tried this new Pro card first (I have 2 full cards). This error came up, so I rebooted the computer and still got the same error. I unplugged the external USB hub, and reconnected. After doing that, I inserted my other PNY card (generic, not a pro card) and ripped my pictures no problem. I once again tried the Pro card and got the same error message once again.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.......I will be researching this right now, but figured I'd start a thread for another source.

TIA

I'm not real sure but you may need a UDMA card reader.

Just found this little excerpt......talking about UDMA technology....

.....you will need to invest in a UDMA card reader and, most likely, a Firewire expansion port.....

Does your USB hub have a power adapter? If not, try plugging your reader into the computer's USB port directly. The card/reader's drawing more than the hub can support. Right-click on "My Computer", choose "Properties", open Device Manager (Hardware tab) and USB Controllers branch, then check the "Power" tab for the various "Root Hub" entries there to see how much power is available on each port/hub.

Success! However, there is NO kind of "fast" speed from my 266x Pro card......in fact the full 2GB is estimating 47 minutes.

Thanks for the tip though! This saves me having to buy a reader......hopefully.
