We see countless posts here where folks either capture bat-on-ball shots or their attempt to do so. Some of us are of the opinion that shots immediately after batters make contact and put the ball into play are more interesting if for no other reason that BOB shots seldom show faces while coming out of the box shots often show good faces. Here are some shots immediately after batters made contact and put the ball into play.

Jerry ~ Baseball is a game where only defensive players handle the ball and offensive players who hit successfully in only one third of their at bats are among the best in the sport.

Very nice series of images. The expressions are so cool. I'll have to master this the next time I shoot. Thanks for sharing.

Never thought about that before, but now that you mention it...I have to agree.

Good stuff Jerry and that's my all time favorite shot. Love #3.

Splendid work, Jerry.

Next time the Clearwater Phillies are in your neck of the woods, grab a shot of OF Jay Miller. I coached him in high school. Great kid.

i agree, i'm not a big fan of BOB shots, and i do too feel that the action shots after the ball has been hit is alot better thatn BOB, unless you are shooting BOB from a different angle that can get the face of the player as well.

IMHO, the perfect range of timing for after contact shoots, (can i coin this as ACS?) is in the range shown by #1, #4 and #7

I like both BoB and the bat release shots. My favs are comebacks to 1st base and double plays at second shot from the 1st base side. I have a really weird one where Rich Aurila
made a double play by catching a liner right to him and tagging out Chris Snyder of the D-backs on the way back to first. I wish you could see the sequence it was bizarre.

Sorry for the quality on this one I am on my work computer...

Lotsa pop as always. And the fantastic bokeh......!

Almost always must have eyes to give it some heart - your exposures are A1, no shadows from the brim of the helmet.
